Hey there. This will be short and quiet. Traditionally and hopefully still today, the hours from noon to 3pm are meant to be kept quiet. This span of time represents our Lord hanging on the cross–dying for you and me. Can you even image? I mean, think about what happens when we have to sit in the drive thru line too long…or the school pick up line? Or how about when we have to sit on the phone with customer service or guest services or whatever nicey-nicey name they try to sell us on even though we know we’re doomed to sit…and wait…and listen to yucky music. See that, see how easily I can slip into being inconvenienced? Yeah, not our Lord. He knew why He was here. He knew what He had to do. He did it.
Have you noticed how quiet our Lord was throughout this ordeal? He rarely spoke. When He did, it was measured and to the point.
We know why we’re here. We know what we need to do. Let’s do it.
Here’s a short list to get us started:
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near. Matthew 3:2
Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him. Matthew 4:10
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44
But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Short but sweet, and significant reflections!
Thank you.
Thank you Jenny for the reminder of what this day is really about. I have really enjoyed being on this Lenten journey with you.
Thank you Anna for the time you took to leave a kind a comment. I’m sorry I’m getting back to you so late. Blessed weekend to you!
Thanks for the reminder to spend some time in silence to honor Christ our Lord.
Perfect. May God bless your quiet today.
