Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.
Last week we visited a local cemetery to pray for the faithful departed. Here’s a brief explanation of why Catholics pray for the souls of the faithful departed, “The custom of praying for the dead is rooted in the very nature of heaven. The Bible indicates that there can be nothing imperfect in heaven. When describing the vision of the New Jerusalem, God’s eternal kingdom, Revelation 21:27 states, “nothing unclean will enter it.” Unfortunately, many people who die have not lived as perfect humans, and do not die in a state of perfection. They are not yet prepared to enter heaven and behold God’s face. At the same time, they have not made the choice to totally separate themselves from God…The souls of these individuals have not yet been completely purified of their sins. They must undergo purification after death, a fact which demonstrates that God’s mercy does not stop at the moment of death. Instead, divine mercy continues even after that moment to prepare a soul to receive God’s loving embrace in heaven.” (Praying for the Souls of the Dead: A Catholic Tradition)

Praying…
I have a sweet friend in need of some extra prayers. I also need to start praying for my daughter’s college roommate(s) next year. I’m praying my oldest finds the right vehicle in the right timing. Money, Christmas, graduation, college, soccer, groceries, you all, dreams, and plans round out my prayer list.

Listening to…
I was listening to a local pop station the other day and a catchy song came on but as I started paying attention to the lyrics I was like, “What did he just say!?!” Wow! You can pretty much say anything anymore on the radio I guess. Also, I listened to Taylor Swift’s new song, “Look What You Just Made Me Do.” That song has something scary attached to it. I’ve heard it all the way through twice and bits and pieces a few more times. Every single time it unsettles my soul in a very real and very creepy way.

Bible Journaling…
I’m going to practice the spiritual discipline of Bible journaling as I read along with “Rooted in Hope.” I love that there is so much room to journal right in the book. More importantly, I love that they have big and little kid companion versions. I clicked over to see if I’d be interested and at the very first page, where they ask the children to imagine what the stable smelled like, I was hooked. This is going to be a lovely way and a beautiful season to help my children learn or at least spend more time with the discipline of meditative prayer.
Around the House…
I thoroughly cleaned the dining room–dusted the bookshelves, alphabetized the books and then cleaned out the entry hall closet–DVD’s and craft supplies last week. It felt so good, until I tripped on thin air and almost broke my big toe. But then it felt good again after the pain subsided.
In the Kitchen…
I am loving, loving, loving Walmart grocery pickup!!! I’ve used it two weeks in a row now and my order has been correct and in good shape–meaning my fruits and veggies have been good quality. And I know I’ve saved about $50 each week so far! Here’s my referral code for you to try it and the first time you use it, you get $10 off. This weeks dinners are from either the first THM cookbok or the second:
Smarty Pants Stroganoff
Wicked White Chili
Taco Salad
Cowboy Grub
Rich and Tender Stew
Wonderfish Tacos
Chicken Fajita Soup
Self Care
Starting tomorrow the girls and I will use the Fitness Blender free videos to work on stretching and flexibility. And then they bought an 8 week program to supplement soccer workouts. I need to order more Anxiety Ease essential oil; that’s the first bottle I’ve emptied. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)

Saving Money…
I am definitely saving money using the Walmart grocery pickup. I’m not wandering aisles or impuse buying.
I’ve written a book to help you get started with Bible journaling, Bible Journaling Tips, Inspiration and Permission, to encourage and inspire you in your Bible journaling!
