Hello, hello! I get asked frequently for Bible journaling Tips and verse mapping help. And by the way, I love getting asked these questions! Anyway, ladies ask and I try to explain, but I know many of you are visual learners like me. I am a total visual learner. My sister and I were having a conversation the other day and I said I cannot listen to audiobooks or podcasts, it’s literally is like I’ve never listened to them; I retain nothing. That being said, I sat down and made a video the other day on how I went through the spiritual discipline of verse mapping. And because I also get asked about Catholic Bible journaling, I chose a verse from the Book of Sirach as an example.
Blessed is She and Our Sunday Visitor has designed a Catholic Journaling Bible. Click here to purchase and here for my Catholic Journaling Bible post and flip through video I made.
In this video, I am using my large print Bible, the one I call my “forever Bible.” I call it that because when I purchased it a couple of years ago, I intentionally chose a large print because I knew at some point in life–maybe sooner rather later, I would need the larger font size! Use whatever Bible you have. If you don’t have one or are in the market for a new one, I wrote a post recently comparing the various Catholic Bibles, Which Catholic Bible Should I Use?
The supplies you will need to follow along in this video are simple: a Bible, a notebook, journal or some paper–I used a cheapy, plain ‘ol spiral, pens and highlighters–but entirely up to you. I do use highlighters and different colored pens because as I say in the video, I like my verse mapping and Bible journaling/highlighting to have a sense of continuity. Unless the house is quiet and my pens are in the other room and I’m afraid to let anyone know I’m up and moving around–then I use whatever is near, lol!
And finally, for more information on how I journal with or through my Bible, I wrote a book sharing how and why I started, the color code system I use and my friend Meg allowed me to include her “Yearly Bible Reading Plan.” You can click here to purchase, Bible Journaling Tips, Inspiration and Permission.
Enjoy the video and if you have any questions, please ask. I’m always happy to share what I know and find out things I don’t.
