In case you are not on Instagram, here’s a recap of what’s going on in world, newest to oldest.
Remember the time you dropped off multiple prescriptions and ran to the store to over buy soap, Clorox wipes, lysol spay, paper towels, vits c & d3, halls cough drops, paper plates, plastic cups to be thrown away after each use, hand sanitizer, tea, blueberries and airborn. And you used the self checkout for all your crapola because you were afraid of infecting a poor unsuspecting cashier? Yeah me too.
Remember the time you asked the pediatrician to come out to your van to listen to everyone breathe, yourself included because you were afraid of contaminating his entire office with the respiratory virus from hell? And he did. Yeah me too.
Remember the time you called the pediatrician and told him your germy kids took you down and asked if you could take a teaspoon of their cough medicine so you could stop coughing and get some sleep and he said “No…take 2.” Yeah. I kind of do too.
Remember that time daddy was out of town and 7 out of the 8 of us came down with pneumonia/croup/bronchitis/flu like symptoms? Yeah, me too.
To those friends who are praying for and bring food for my family while we are sick…”I want you to receive a reward for your kindness. At the moment I have all I need and more. I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me…they are a sweet smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:17-20
And now dear friends, I am going to fall asleep holding my Mother’s hand. Thank you Barbara!
When I read this this morning, I thought of you.
“There is another reason also why the soul has traveled safely in this obscurity; it has suffered: for the way of suffering is safer, and also more profitable, than that of rejoicing and of action. In suffering God gives strength, but in action and in joy the soul does but show its own weakness and imperfections. And in suffering, the soul practices and acquires virtue, and becomes pure, wiser, and more cautious.”
— St. John of the Cross p. 149
Thank you for this Michelle. I was telling Chris last night, I had all these grand…and actually very noble and worthy plans for while he was out of town. I was going to get all this stuff done, get some new routines established and basically overhaul the house in a way you can only do when you don’t have to stop and plan around daddy coming home or dad needing this.
Looking back I can see my plans, although worthy, were also kind of prideful. But because we’ve been so sick, not only have my plans not happened, our friends have stepped in to provide our basics like meals and grocery trips.
You’re welcome. I am praying the rosary brings you comfort. You certainly deserve it. Get well.
Jenny, Praying for you and your family as you undergo this huge trial. Yes, it is huge for all of you to be battling illnesses such as these! I pray that you all get some relief soon.
Thanks Laura. I may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel…maybe?
