Happy Saturday! We had some nice rain on Friday which means the fields are too wet to play which means a slow weekend–relatively speaking. I try not to look back wistfully because this time in my life is just plain ‘ol good stuff, but…I do miss slow, lazy Saturday mornings watching cooking shows on PBS with my girls when they were little. Anyway, on to Here and There; these are some of the finds I have enjoyed this past week across the world wide web. Share your finds in the comments.
Here and There: Slow Weekend
It seems every February/March I start thinking about the upcoming school year..mainly because I’m tired of the one wee’re slogging through. I need a box of new books, pencils longer than my pinky and fresh spirals come early Spring. I will be teaching two of my children cursive next year and found this article, Ten Reasons People Still Need Cursive, interesting. I had not ever considered number 9.
Does it seem like there are babies everywhere right now? Sarah over at Snoring Scholar just welcomed a sweet little boy and I’ve been enjoying her Instagram feed with all those scrumptious pictures. No new babies for us right now, but we do have a couple of newborn calves…I know, no comparison. Did you read this short piece about why we shouldn’t put hats on newborns? Our bodies are so amazing and although I totally get into the newborn smell and post Baptism smell, I had no idea there was a science behind that delicious smell.
The children and I listened to this Audio Sancto, The Power of Meditating on the Passion, this week during lunch. It’s actually longer than the listed time, about 20 minutes. Very good and appropriate as we continue through Lent.
Look what I found, Slip Extenders. These would have come in handy when I had three little girls growing so quickly…well, actually a couple of my teen daughters seem to grow overnight right now!
And finally, I’m taking the time to continue my Lenten reading, Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives: The Life and Teachings of Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica. My IG friend Jen (catholicmom26) and I are already quoting the book back and forth. (She’s also going to start teaching me about the life of a Secular Carmelite.)
So what’s going on this Saturday where you are?
