Welcome to my weekly post, Daybook Online Journal. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to…eating and cleaning and learning…These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life; and I want to remember them. If you blog, please link up below with your Daybook Online Journal post. If you don’t have a blog, no worries, just leave your “post” in the comments. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.
Daybook Online Journal: Treading Water
Thanking God for…
Chris’ guidance and wisdom. There are so many things going on right now, stories that are not mine to tell. Chris has been praying and listening and guiding our family with those graces reserved exclusively for the head of the family. I’m thankful for a priest who does that same type of listening and shepherding. I’m thankful for friends who make us laugh, let us fish in their ponds and love my children.
Praying…
I’ve been directed recently to “pray hard and a lot.” So I am.
Pondering…
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.
-Ephesians 6:12
Reading…
My large print Bible
The Green Ember
(our lunch time reading)
The Latin Mass Explained: Everything needed to understand and appreciate the Traditional Latin Mass.
(before family rosary reading)
Bible Journaling…
I have not journaled in my Bible lately. I’ve just been reading…reading and praying and pondering. I have settled on a Bible marking system that is comfortable that I would like to share. I shared one earlier in the year, but something about it just wasn’t working for me. I’ve been using this new one for a couple of weeks and it is working very well as I read. I’m using this Bible Marking Kit plus the purple one. You can see there are still some categories or topics that can be added under certain colors.
Around the House…
I think everyone should be finished with school this week, next week at the latest; this means we can move into our summer routine of sleeping later. Other than that, the usual chores.
In the Kitchen…
In addition to being a meal planning rut, it is so much easier on those nights when Chris is late or traveling to eat popcorn, cereal with milk or pizza. I have got to get back into the kitchen.
Our Domestic Church…
June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are going to start reading St. Margaret Mary: And the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Saints Lives). And I need to find a non crafty parent friendly craft.
Captured…
Our neighbors taught the kids how to play Pitch. My kids have played it nightly…well and even took a deck of cards to the dental office while waiting for our cleanings, so I guess they play it daily as well.

Hi Jenny!!! So glad to hear/see/read that you are all thriving. YAHOOOO for summer!! I am glad, too, for the longer days, easier schedule and more relaxed attitude that summer brings.
Food? Bah. It’s summer. Sandwiches can be feastworthy, especially when eaten outdoors. Better still, have watermelon for dinner!

My children were asking for watermelon yesterday. Who can deny them such a sweet summer treat?!
