Welcome to My Daybook Online Journal. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. Bible Reading…
Friends I cannot stress enough how important daily Bible reading is! It is amazing to me how much I learn about God and grow in closer friendship with Him just by daily spending time with Him in His Word. And really, it shouldn’t be that surprising right? Think of any intimate relationship, any friendship…it’s cultivated, nourished, strengthened, and grows through a daily commitment to communication.
If you’re intimated by daily Bible reading or don’t know where to start, open to Psalm 1 or Proverbs 1 and read a chapter a day. Don’t worry about whether you understand it or not, just read.
Around the House…
I am ready for Spring. I want warm weather and sunshine. I want open windows and sunshine. I want to see green grass and fields and sunshine. I don’t want every blanket we own on beds and couches, LOL! That being said, it’s all a gift friends; cold weather, blankets everywhere, etc.
In the Kitchen…
Tonight is Frito Chili Pie. Tomorrow will probably be something with chicken? I have some kids with a cold, getting over a cold or feeling like they might be coming down with a cold. Last week I made a yummy homemade chicken noodle soup so I probably will do that again this week.

Self Care
Oh my goodness I love essential oils! A few years ago we all got super sick! In hindsight, our pediatrician thinks it was probably Enterovirus. Chris never travels for work and during that time period, he left for a few months on a Wednesday and that Friday at midnight I was in the ER with Luke who had pneumonia. It went downhill from there. Almost every single one of us ended up with pneumonia or at least a very nasty respiratory virus. It lasted forever it felt like!
Since that time whenever a couple of my kids get sick or have bad allergies, day 1 it goes straight to their chest and we have to start breathing treatments. NOT THIS TIME!!!! As soon as they started acting icky I started applying Myrtle essential oil to their chest and gave them a couple of doses of Mucinex…we haven’t had to give one breathing treatment! When they wake up in the night croupy sounding I run more Myrtle essential oil on their chest, some Thieves on their feet and back to sleep they go.
I’m faithfully drinking my Ningxia to keep my immune system up and running. I also just ordered some Inner Defense for those of us who are staying well. Other things we’re doing include Tea Tree and coconut oil massaged behind a child with an earache. We’re also putting a drop of Lemon on a cotton ball and putting it just at the opening of the ear, plus a heating pad. I have an amazing “Cold Bomb” roller bottle I made up from a friend’s recipe using Oregano Oil.
(I used to purchase my essential oils from Amazon or Edens Garden instead of a distributor. You can read my thoughts on why here, “Where I’m From…” I’ve since decided I don’t have the time or resources to properly educate myself on using the oils to their fullest potential. That’s why I signed up with Young Living under a former Family Practice Physician.)
The Littlest Way
I woke up the other day with a post brewing. The topic was some Catholic mom shaming I had seen recently on the internet and it had bothered me then but I kept quiet. Well, I woke up with something to say. So now I just need to make the time to write the post.
