Welcome to my weekly Daybook post here at The Littlest Way. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to…eating and cleaning and learning…These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life; and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
This weekend marked the one year anniversary of my grandpa’s death. I’m continuing to pray for his sweet soul and for my grandma still here and struggling in this valley of tears. I’m praying for my Bernadette as she is discerning where and when and how God is leading her. I’m praying for myself–that I listen closely. I’m praying for Chris and my children–always and forever. I’m also praying for all of you. Please leave you intentions in the comments…or even just a hi because some intentions are meant to be kept quiet.
Pondering…
“When I am disciplined, I complete things. I treat myself well. I don’t gossip or complain. I feel massive surges of creativity. I sleep well. I feel a sense of vibrancy inside my body.”
-Carrie-Anne Moss
Listening to…
I’m listening to the dryer and my children–the constant soundtrack of my life. This song is stuck in my head, Counting Stars by One Republic.
Reading…
My large print Bible
In This House, We Will Giggle: Making Virtues, Love, and Laughter a Daily Part of Your Family Life
Bible Journaling…
You know I love Bible journaling and prayer journaling and journaling in general. I love pens and papers and journals and scraps of paper and backs of envelops and words…mine and others. Well, I have notes written everywhere: in spirals, in journals, on my calendar, in planners, on the back of my electric bill…everywhere. And that’s a big problem. I have one husband and seven children plus myself to keep up with. I do not have the time or the energy to keep up with a gratitude journal, prayer journal, Bible journal, book notes, favorite quotes, grocery list, calendar, daily to do lists, etc. My friend Misty recommended I try a Travelers Notebook. If you’re not familiar with them, they are, in my basic understanding, a piece of leather (or they can be fabric), that folds over little notebooks.
I will do a post soon on how I’m using a Travelers Notebook. Let me just say, I already love it! (I have this one, thank you Webster’s Pages!) I love, love, love having all my notes, doodles, thoughts, words, prayers, ponderings and reflections ALL.IN.ONE.PLACE.
Around the House…
I am really trying to intentionally and methodically evaluate what we have and need verse what’s in the way, you know? This is a slow process because, well life and I’m busy and because it isn’t always fun. It’s actually kind of boring and yet requires emotional energy and brain power to properly evaluate.
In the Kitchen…
We’ve been eating a lot of salads…and sandwiches…and cereal. Although over the weekend Chris grilled some yummy pork chops, I made baked potatoes and salad for the kids and a cauliflower mash with melted cheese and garlic for myself, MMMmmm!
Our Domestic Church…
Since our little homeschool is taking a summer break, we’ve not been reading our Saint of the Day. I don’t like that. So this week we will get back into that habit, even if it happens at lunch instead of breakfast because kids are sleeping later.
Saving Money…
I’ve written a guest post for my friend Jessi at the Budget Mama. I’ll let you know when she shares it. For those of you who have emailed or messaged me asking how we paid off our home in six years. The first thing I would encourage you to do is read Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. (Chris didn’t really have time to read the book so he listened to the CD’s.) And as you’re reading, begin setting up a budget. We have been doing this old school–pen and paper until the last couple of months. I recently found Every Dollar, an online or app budgeting tool. I can’t use it as an app because it’s only available for iphones and I have an Android. But, I have been using it on my computer and love it!
