Welcome to my weekly Daybook post here at The Littlest Way. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to…eating and cleaning and learning…These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life; and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I’m praying for continued peace in the local city. There was an officer involved shooting–a fatality. Thanks be to God the nearby city has been able to remain peaceful–unlike Charlotte. I’m praying for people to listen with the ears of their heart. “When St. Benedict urges one to listen, he is not simply speaking about listening as we traditionally perceive it. He is not speaking about listening in the way that we might listen to a song or a joke, instead, he invites us in this phrase from the Book of Proverbs and Psalm 43 to “incline the ear of our heart” We must have a receptive understanding, a trustful attitude towards the truth that is proposed to us.”[note]Jeremiah R. Grosse[/note] I believe this is the only way to maintain peace in such a stressful times.
Pondering…
I’m pondering what I get, need and have to do verse–I don’t think verse is the correct word?? What I want to do. The reason I don’t feel “verse” is the correct word because I need and have to keep laundry up, but it’s also something I consider a blessing to do–we have laundry and a washing machine and dryer and I have children and a husband who wear the laundry–do you see? But I want, need and get to write. Yes, I consider it a need. There are so many good things I want to do…need to do, but they require time and time is a priority. So I’m pondering all that goodness because it is all good. I am not pondering finding a “balance,” I don’t believe there is such a thing. Saying “Yes” to one thing means saying “No” to another or at least “Not right now.” It’s not balancing the two, it’s making the choice which to do first and which to do next.
I’m also pondering/worrying about our Sirach Bible Study and Journal. I want to do y’all right. I want it to be fun and fruitful and all about growing in closer friendship with God. I want us to grow in closer community with each other. I want y’all to look forward to the next Bible Study and Journal. I want my family to have clean underwear and good meals and a good education. I guess this falls under the umbrella of the above ponderings.
Listening to…
For our anniversary, Chris and I went to see “To Joey, With Love.” It was good, so very good. And we figured up on the way there, the last time we went to the movies was to see “Open Range” 13 years ago! Of course I’m listening to Joey and Rory’s Hymns CD. Especially, How Great Thou Art
I told the kids the other day I want “How Great Thou Art” “God of Mercy and Compassion” and “O Mary of Graces” somehow involved in my funeral–Mass, rosary or burial.

I know, same books for the last couple of weeks. It’s not that I’m a slow reader all of a sudden, it’s that I am too busy to read any faster right now.
Bible Journaling…
Here’s a recent entry from the other night. The last couple of years I’ve participated in a 31 Days writing challenge. I’m considering writing this year on 31 Days of Bible Journaling??? Last year I wrote for 31 Days on Bible Quotes and I’m glad I did. Those posts were incorporated into my Bible Journaling Tips, Inspiration and Permission Book.
Around the House…
I made a yummy Trim Healthy Mama crockpot recipe, Lemon Herb Drummies. Of course my family dipped theirs in Barbeque sauce, lol! And I had Chris take mine off the bone. I’m sorry, I hate to be a princess, but I cannot eat meat off the bone.
In the Kitchen…
We had a cow butchered so fresh, home grown meat coming to our table soon!! I know Chris is excited for a steak. We never, ever buy steak because it costs so much! I rarely buy roast for the same reason. And hunting season is coming up so our freezer should be full of beef and venison soon. It’s been empty for almost a year so this will be a nice change.
Our Domestic Church…
October is the month dedicated to the Rosary. If you are not in the habit of praying it, please try this month. Yes I know the kids are squirmy–Veronica once laid on the floor and screamed through the entire rosary when we were praying it with a visiting priest–we all lived to tell about it and now even laugh, even the priest! Now that Bernadette lives away from hom, I lvoe the fact that around a certain time each night, she knows what we are doing–what it looks and sounds like.
Saving Money…
I took this huge bag of change we had to the bank so they could count it. It had $157 in it!! A good lesson that all those pennies, nickles and dimes add up. Oh, here’s an interesting way we recently saved money–Chris tore our shower floor out by himself. We have known our shower needed some work. The other day when I was scrubbing it I pulled a little caulk off. When Chris got home that night I told him I needed him to re-caulk that place. He had had a rough day at work, so he sat down in the shower to clean the area and tell me about his day. We realized, every time he shifted his weight, water would seep up through some cracks! And then a couple of little tiles popped off and then he pulled a few more off to reveal a wet, moldy, mildewey mess under the shower floor. PLEASE, do not tell me about how dangerous mold is. I was googling how to clean it and totally scared myself silly!! I envisioned having to burn and bury the house. Thanks be God Chris was able to get all tile and subfloor up and thoroughly clean all the mold and mildew. Now we just need someone to come look at it and tell us the next step. The wall tiles are not budging–which means there is no water behind them, but it also means Chris can’t take them off himself. I’ll keep you updated.
Captured…
I got a spur of the moment haircut. My lady at Supercuts–yes, I have a lady and yes, she works at Supercuts–was back from maternity leave so I quickly ran in to see her. I also needed my lip and eyebrows waxed–too much information? I still shock myself that I have become one of the age where I need my lip waxed. Do you still love me after all that?
