I come across so many great articles, useful tips, inspiring ideas and beautiful stories in a given week, I thought I’d start sharing some of them here on Saturday’s…or at least this Saturday. It seems every time I say “I’m going to…” life gets interrupted and the first one is the last one. So let’s just enjoy my great finds this Saturday, and hopefully there will be more next week. I’m calling this post, “Here and There” because, well, I found these things, here and there. Let me remind you, if you have not signed up to receive The Littlest Way by email, click here to do that. By doing so, you’ll never a miss post because they will be sent straight to your email inbox. I also have a couple of email subscriber freebies–a Daily Advent Devotional, Prayer Journal Printables and a 31 Day POWERful Bible Journaling Challenge. One more thing, I participate in the Amazon affiliate program. This means if you click on an Amazon link in my post, at the bottom of the post or in the sidebar, and then make a purchase–buy anything from Amazon, I make a little referral change. There are two things you should know about this; one, I do not know who purchases what and two, I am grateful for that referral change from you through Amazon. Thank you! (Here’s my official disclosure.)
Here and There: Late Summer
Haley over at Carrots for Michaelmass had a timely article this week, It’s OK to Skip Your “20’s” and Start Your Life. Bernadette and I were just talking about the benefits of marrying young and why the world says “wait.” Even though I married young, I was 20 and Chris was 21, and even though I pretty much had no business getting married due to the load of emotional baggage I was strapped with, I’m glad I married when I did. I’m glad I had the love and support of Chris to encourage me as I worked through my stuff. I’m glad (now) he challenged me when I needed to be challenged and loved me unconditionally when I behaved badly to make him prove it.
How old were you when you married?
Elizabeth also had a great post on marriage, A Letter to Myself on My Wedding Day “You’re both about to learn that love is work. For a lifetime. And when in doubt, always remember that our best example of love on earth is the cross. If ever you wonder what the next move is, ask yourself how you can die to self for the person you love. It’s going to be Mike’s turn first. He’ll teach you how.” Insert “Chris” for “Mike” in that sentence and, yeah, Amen.
Meg at Held By His Pierced Hands has a great post on Temperament and Prayer. I was already going to recommend the book, The Temperament God Gave Your Spouse since we were just talking about marriage. Learning about the four temperaments a couple of years ago was not only interesting but very enlightening. That knowledge has helped me understand me and those around me. I’ve never read the book Meg recommends, Prayer and Temperament: Different Prayer Forms for Different Personality Types. (It’s in my cart for my next Amazon order though!)
Kendra’s post, Them’s the Rules Part 1, totally got me at numbers 4, 5 and 6 because, yeah. Some days I shake my head and maybe even open my mouth to ask a little too loudly (nice way of saying yelling) “Really?!?! Do I really have to tell you to sit in the open spot verse on top of or squished next to the person you are so desperately trying to annoy?!”
I stayed up late last night and watched Pride & Prejudice with Kiera Knightly. So good! I’ve never read the book or seen a version of the movie. It was such a great way to spend time with my older girls and it was such a beautiful movie. I’m going to read the book now.
And finally, if you missed my kitchen sink post last week please head on over and read it, Kitchen Sink Missionaries. I skyped with Colleen yesterday and she said they have enough for the breast pump and hopefully for digital scales so they can do daily baby weight checks on site. YAY!!!! But we can do so much more. I mentioned, based solely on friends of The Littlest Way, if each of us gave $10 this month we could donate over $10,000 dollars to St. Bryce Missions this month! I said in the original post friends who donated and left a comment would be entered in a drawing at the end of the month for a bound copy of my Daily Advent Devotional. Well the pot just got sweeter! My friend Barbara will also donate a St. Andrew Novena Chaplet to go along with the devotional!
I’m also on the hunt for a small statue, sun catcher or kitchen plaque that would represent our Kitchen Sink Missionaries. If you come across something you like, let me know. I kind of like this Willow Tree Angel of The Kitchen, but I’m not sure if it’s “the one.”
What do you think?
Have a great weekend! Stop in tomorrow tomorrow for Sunday Quotes and I’ll see you Monday for my Daybook Online Journal post.

I have. I’ve also seen a statue by the same title. Thank you for linking 🙂

Maybe a Kitchen Madonna would be just “the right thing.” Our Blessed Mother is a perfect example of a Kitchen Missionary.

I’ve thought of that Barb There are Kitchen Madonna plaques and statues.
