This post has been sitting in my drafts waiting for just the right time. You see, I started Bible journaling before there were fancy kits, Youtube videos galore, and real books with techniques for the beginner to the advanced. Please, do not even ask me to figure up the amount of time I spent walking around craft stores, aisle after aisle, finding just the right washi tape to go with just the right tip-ins to searching for stamps, ink, stickers, and other embellishments. And that didn’t even count the time I then searched for journaling prompts or a journal for my Bible journaling when I didn’t want to write in my Bible. That rabbit hole almost always ended up with me creating my own–another chunk of time. And then the heavens opend and the angels sang and along came Bible journaling kits, at least that’s how it seemed to me and my wallet.
The Bible journaling kits and supplies from Illustrated Faith have almost everything you need, coordinated and themed. To say the Bible journaling kits have saved me money, is an understatement. To say they have saved me time, is a gross understatement. Instead of walking around a store or clicking around the internet, the kit is delivered to my door and my time is now spent, literally, with my hands on the Word of God–which is the whole and entire point. Quick reminder, this isn’t art for the sake of art, this is devotional for the sake of closer friendship with God.
The kits used to be in a box and contain an ink pad…and cost $40. Thankfully they have streamlined the packaging, the contents and honestly, most important to me, the price. We are a one income family with a bunch of kids. Feeding my family and providing for them will trump a $40 Bible journaling kit, every.single.time.
One of the first kits I used and loved was the Christmas kit. Christmas is a time when the world seems more colorful, full of anticipation, and celebratory. There was something so lovely to me about combining the color, anticipation, and celebration and applying it to my Bible journaling. I know many of you either asked for or received a Journaling Bible for Christmas and couldn’t wait to get started. A Christmas Bible journaling kit under the tree would have been the perfect complimentary gift.
I bring this up because my sister-in-law is already counting down the days until Christmas this year. There are 100 days until the start of Advent and only 122 days until Christmas 2017. With the recent, ever so slight chill in the morning air, I’ve started thinking about both Advent and Christmas. If you are considering, for yourself or others, the gift of a Bible, Journaling Bible and or Bible journaling supplies. Illustrated Faith has their Christmas kit marked to just $15 right now until September 5th. It’s not too early begin thinking about Advent and Christmas.
They also have three other Bible journaling kits on sale for just $15: Doodles to Live By, Rise Up, and I Am (one of my personal favorites because the rose floral washi tape is so beautiful!)
If you have been scouring the internet and Pinterest looking at all the beautiful Bible journaling but not sure where to start, I can tell you, you will not be disappointed with one of these kits. If you’ve already started writing down ideas for Christmas presents, these kits would be perfect, but not just for the Bible journaler. I use these kits in my planner, when I send snail mail, when my children want to decorate their artwork, and now even in my prayer journal. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them and make according recommendations.
*I’ve written a book about the whys of Bible journaling, Bible Journaling Tips, Inspiration and Permission, to encourage and inspire you in your Bible journaling!
